I Was At A Peace March

October 28 was the Pan-Canadian Day of Action calling for Canadian Troops Out of Afghanistan. Don't get me wrong -- us peaceniks do support our troops. And the way we want to show our support is by bringing them home. What is happening in Afghanistan is a civil war between the Taliban and the Northern Alliance. Civil wars are never helped by foreign countries coming in and taking military action. They can only be solved by both sides sitting down and negotiating. Despite the first major snowfall of the year, about 200 peace activists showed up to march. Speakers included a representative from Project Plougshares, a Christian peace group. He said that in th Bible, Jesus said "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of G-d. You are all here as peacemakers. You are all Children of G-d, and you are Blessed."
