There are many reasons for homelessness, and many are not there by choice, some have mental instability, some bad luck, some due addictions. Bandaid solutions don't work. I've heard of a fella that builds tiny homes on wheels for homeless people that they can pull with them, the homes are big enough to sleep in and carry a few items. What a great idea.

You mention excrement, sadly its not just the homeless that do such in the streets, I have seen young men hop out of expensive trucks to water the boulevards. So maybe that one problem is lack of public toilets in this city.

What about affordable housing, its few and far between here. Why are the big box sprawl malls allowed to wastefully consume land. They could and should be required to have affordable housing above them. No this city is all about festivals; not about taking care of its citizens. tess stiebenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14990043775194246617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37048794.post-19998382269100639672014-05-26T09:32:12.488-07:002014-05-26T09:32:12.488-07:00The whole idea behind public discourse is disagree...The whole idea behind public discourse is disagreeing with people and having the freedom to express our disagreement. Even if you knew me personally you would not be able to judge whether or not I led a sheltered life. You do not know my experience. You know my opinions and that is what is up for debate. Personal attacks on what you think might be my life are unacceptable. Please maintain civility and avoid personal attacks in the future so that your opinions might carry more weight. I grew up with an addict and if it hadn't been for some people enabling him, he would have been on the street. Being in rehab five separate times didn't seem to help either. It's not there weren't people there to help.It was a choice this person made that would have led him to homelessness without the enablers. I know you say that you're a left leaning activist and that's why you see homelessness the way you do. You're only partially right about why people are on the street. You talk like someone who has had a sheltered life....which is probably why you can sit there and pontificate about every social issue without having a clue about the complexities and realities of them. Part of being a good activist is to stick to the things you know.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14483098550579286586noreply@blogger.com
